In the days of 7 inch vinyl records, one song appeared on the A-side of the record and a second song appeared on the B-side. Oftentimes, the song on the A-side of the record would be heard on the radio while the song on the B-side would not. After years of listening to vinyl singles and then to cassette singles, which also had the A-side/B-side format, I’ve determined that B-side songs are just as good as the songs on the A-side. Similarly, I think there are countless artists that don’t get enough attention because their music isn’t played on the radio.
Finding the B-Side will introduce you to neo-soul, r&b, jazz and gospel songs, albums, and artists that I think are definitely worth your attention. As I add artists to this site, I’ll include interviews to help you know more about what inspires the their songs, and I’ll tell you where you can purchase their music and see them in concert. I’ve even thought of some discussion topics that I hope will spark your interest. Feel free to leave a comment on any of the posts that you like.
