Gretchen Parlato

Happy Friday! If you’re planning a relaxing weekend, Gretchen Parlato‘s music may be the perfect complement. The jazz singer just released her third album, The Lost and Found and it is receving lots of well-deserved reviews. The album features originals and a very nice mixture of covers, including Bill Evans’ Blue in Green, Wayne Shorter’s Juju, Simply Red’s Holding Back the Years and Mary J. Blige’s All That I Can Say (which some of you may recall from this week’s Gimme 5 episode). Gretchen has a soft but effective sound, one that makes it hard to press the skip button. See for yourself with this live performance of Better Than below.
