Open HeavenSinger, songwriter and bass guitarist Debra Killings really does have the total package. In addition to releasing two albums of her own, Surrender in 2003 and Open Heaven in 2008, Debra has worked with a long list of artists including Toni Braxton, Monica, Aretha Franklin, Tamia, Fred Hammond, Deitrick Haddon and Carlos Santana to name a few. These days you can see her playing with Big Jim’s Penthouse Playas on the Mo’Nique Show.

I enjoy listening to Debra Killings’ albums because even though she has accomplished alot, her music is not boastful. Instead, her lyrics display a humble spirit and sincere love for God. Debra says on her website that “Being real about God is simple. You just sing what’s in your heart.” Visit the  website to preview Open Heaven and check out this live performance of Message in the Music below.
