The Song Lives On by Joe Sample & Lalah Hathaway

Sample & HathawayThis week I’m suggesting an album that you definitely need to have in your collection. The Song Lives On was released in 1999 and is a collaboration album from two of my all-time favorite artists. Joe Sample and Lalah Hathaway complement each other so well that it seems almost unfair that they haven’t released more albums together. It’s hard to pick only a few favorite tracks from the album but if I had to choose, I’d say Street Life, When Your Life Was Low and Long Way From Home. Here’s a live performance of When Your Life Was Low (notice Marcus Miller on bass and hold on to your seat around the 6:15 mark). I hope you enjoy it enough to purchase The Song Lives On.
