Let That CD Play All The Way Through!

I got the idea for today’s blog as I was talking to one of my good friends. We were chatting about our “Can’t Do Without” music lists, and the idea of a doing a “Let That CD Play All the Way Through” list came up. You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? I’m talking about a cd that you put in and don’t worry about skipping to a specific number because you’re going to listen to every song. It’s the cd that you choose when you’re driving somewhere, or when you’re cleaning up, or when you just need a good pick me up. It’s also that cd that if someone even looks like they’re thinking about changing the track, you say, “Uhn Uhn! Don’t touch that! Let that cd play all the way through!” After all of that discussion of good music, I had to think of which cds would make my list.

The Mimi Soul “Let These 10 CDs Play All The Way Through” List (again, in no particular order)

1. Erykah Badu – Live (It really is a good cd)
2. Maxwell – Urban Hang Suite
3. Boyz II Men – II
4. Marvin Gaye – What’s Goin On
5. Roy Hargrove – Hard Groove
6. D’Angelo – Brown Sugar
7. Tony! Toni! Tone! – Hits
8. Kirk Franklin’s Nu Nation – God’s Property
9. Donell Jones – My Heart
10. Lauryn Hill – The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

So, which cds do you let play all the way through?

  • I am so feeling this, because it’s so few cd’s these days you can listen to from start to finish w/out falling asleep! I love that Luther Vandross Greatest hits! Now thats a start to finish album :)

  • I like that list too. I've been letting #6, D'Angelo, and #10, Lauryn Hill, play through for eons now. Off the top of my head, I can only really think of just a few more cds that I get the priviledge of playing though:

Fred Hammond: Pages of Life: Chapters 1&2 (Disk1)Kirk Franklin: The Nu Nation Project
Men of Standard: Men of Standard
    Karen Clark-Sheard: Finally Karen

    TLC: CrazySexyCool

It's funny, but we don't play them through like we used to!
