Jazz Anyone?

Have you ever looked for a good jazz cd to listen to while you’re at your desk, or while you’re reading, or maybe while you’re eating dinner? I know just the artist. She’s Esperanza Spalding, a young and extremely talented jazz bassist and singer. At 24, she has already toured with Patti Austin and released two cds, Junjo in 2006 and Esperanza in 2008. Many have described her music as jazz fusion and I think I agree.

Check out this interview, where she talks about what it’s like to be on the faculty at the Berklee College of Music and she sings a wonderful song entitled Precious, which is featured on her Esperanza album. So, listen to Esperanza Spalding today. I’m sure that regardless of what you’re doing, she’ll fit in well with your plans.

  • This is exactly why I don’t listen to the radio, because you never hear this type of talent on the airways. This girl is phenomenal in every way! She’s young. She’s gifted, and the most amazing part is that she plays the upright string bass and loves it! Thanks for the exposure!
